TBHG
The Better Hockey Game

One studio has held the license for decades — and no reason to improve.
For over three decades, one studio has owned the hockey sim space with no real competition. Year after year, players ask for deeper simulation, better AI, real physics on checks and shots — and year after year, the response is a roster update. Without competition, there's no pressure to get better.
A hockey game built with the community, not just for it.
TBHG is being developed in Unreal Engine by a team that plays the sport we're simulating. Development happens in public — dev logs, Patreon updates, and community feedback loops shape decisions as we make them, not after the game ships. We're not trying to out-budget the incumbent. We're trying to out-care them.
Environment work in progress
TBHG is in pre-alpha. What you're seeing is early arena and environment art — no gameplay footage exists yet. We'd rather show real, unfinished work than a polished trailer that oversells where we are.
Built in two stages, on purpose
3v3 Prototype
A smaller-scale build to prove out core mechanics — skating feel, puck physics, hitting, shooting — before scaling up systems complexity. This is the first playable milestone.
Full 6v6 Simulation
The actual vision for TBHG: full rosters, line changes, deep team AI, and a complete simulation of the sport. Everything in Stage 1 is built to make this achievable, not to replace it.
